THE OPEN-GROUND

To symbolise freedom from surveillance, discipline, and feminine performance.

At last.

No ceiling to keep me.

No walls rehearsing

the shape I hold.

The sky asked nothing,

except to be seen whole.

I walked,

not arranging myself.

Hair stroked by air,

mouth left bare,

hands drained from performance.

The field lacked judgment.

The wind erased advise.

I have never looked softer

than when I became.

Once settled,

I blinked.

Autonomy restored.
